Único representante do Sanshou no UFC. Cung Le já participou de diversos filmes de Kung Fu. Entre eles estão os mais recentes “The man with iron fists” e o ainda inédito no Brasil “The Grand Master”. Na verdade, Cung Le treinou desde pequeno Tae Kwon Do e Wrestling. Até que um dia foi convidado a participar de um campeonato de Sanshou, onde sagrou-se campeão. Desde então, não parou mais de lutar.

This videos shows a bit of life story of Cung Le. The onlye sanshou fighter competing in the UFC. Cung Le is also a big star in martial movies. His last work was a small part in the acclaimed Wong Kar-wai “The Grand Master” movie.

Chinese Kung Fu Cinema Evolving?

Check out this great article on It is an interesting discussion on the evolution of  martial arts choreography in Chinese films. It is a great overview of some of the styles used in martial arts films(1940’s to present day). Do you think the is the natural evolution of fight choreography and the modern martial arts movement (MMA)? Does traditional Kung Fu have a place in modern action (or martial arts) movies? It is certainly a topic for a debate.

Donnie Yen is definitely Asia’s new leading martial arts star. His recently released Special ID ( a MMA heavy fight movie) was a success in Hong Kong and Mainland China thereby cementing his title as the new martial arts movie king! Not resting on his laurels Donnie has several other movies ready to be released this year:

The Iceman 3D ( remake of Yuen Biao’s The Iceman Cometh)!
